Article 1 : The Union Motocycliste de l'Ain and the Association Motocycliste de PONT-DE-VAUX will organize a Quad race named "Les 12 Heures de Pont-de-Vaux" on August 23, 24 and 25 The race consists in 4 heats. Teams will be made of two or three riders and will race on a quad of cylindree exceeding 240cc. and maximum 1000cc.
This competition will follow the FFM and FIM regulations as well as the race's own regulations. The track will be approximately 2 miles long. and the width of the track will range from 24 to 36 feet. The race is one of the FFM calendar considered as an international race.
The "12 Heures de Pont-de-Vaux" is an invitation race. Application fees are 550 before July 14 and 650 after this date. Cheques or money orders in French Francs or Euros made out to "Association Motocycliste de Pont-de-Vaux" (A.M.P.V.)
IF THE CHEQUE IS NOT ENCLOSED TOGETHER WITH THE ENTRY FORM, THE SUBSCRIPTION WON'T BE REGISTERED BY THE ORGANIZATION COMITY. A total of 120 applications will be accepted. Applications must be received before July 14th, 2002 by the Secrétariat A.M.P.V / 37 grande rue / 01290 PONT DE VEYLE/FRANCE.Entries close earlier if over subscribed. NATIONAL licences must be regularized with the FIM stamp. A "coming out authorization" from your federation is also required."

Article 2. Schedule : Caution, 3 rounds instead of 4 NEW 2002 !!!
The technical verifications will be done on Friday August 23, 2002 from 8 AM to 7 PM in the town of Pont-de-Vaux.
SATURDAY : The start of the first heat will be at 3 PM and the arrival at 6 PM. The start of the second heat will be at 8 PM and the arrival at 1 AM. SUNDAY : The start of the third and last heat will be at 1 PM and the arrival at 5 PM.
Tropheys will be given out on August 25 at 6.00 PM.
Article 3. Competitors : Teams will be formed by 2 or 3 riders. Each rider must have a valid driving licence. Each rider will have a proper cross or enduro outfit, as well as a FIM certified helmet. Caution, particular point : for more safety during the night heat, you will have to place a white reflective sticker on each side of your helmet. Each sticker should have a minimum surface of 25 cm2 Driving license and a guarantee (305 ) will be required in exchange of "numbered jacket" and transponder for timing. In case the numbers are cut, the guarantee won't be returned.
Article 4. Paperwork : All the paperwork concerning the riders, the team manager, the official and the journalists will be done on Friday from 8 AM to 7 PM. No one will have access to the pits before all the paperwork has been completed.
Article 5. Quads : For night racing, all quads must have front head-light and red rear light as well as a reflective sticker in case of break-down. The quad must have three numbered plates, one in the front and one on the left rear fender. The front plate will be with the colour of the organisation. The rear numbered plate should be placed lenghtways and vertically on the top of the rear bar, for providing a better follow of the race for the spectators , press and the persons charged of the timing too. Fitting of the plate must be easy and it should be made of a non-rigid material, steel is not authorized for more safety in case of fall. This plate should size 28 cm lenght and 23 cm high. The number will be placed on the left (forseen a white reflective sticker). The right side is reserved for the organization. The front plate numbered must be put down for the day rounds. The stickers and race numbers will be provided by the organization.
Article 6. Checkings of the Quad : Once the paperwork is completed, the riders must present their quad to the technical control at the time indicated on their enlistment confirmation. Any lateness will be penalized with two laps. The quads will be clean and paint marks from former races will be removed. The frame will be labeled by a touch of paint with a number written inside. The quads will be equiped with a "circuit-breaker", it will be checked. The transmiter will be put up. Front and rear lights must function simultaneously. At the end of the technical controls, any switch of quads will not be permitted. Each rider will have to sign the technical sheet after checking that all the marks conform to the regular standards. After such, no claims will be accepted concerning a forgotten mark.
Technical controls : During the race all quads may be controlled at any time to check if any quad or marked part have been replaced. At the end of the race, race officers will check if any irregularities have been committed. Any quad having front or rear light failure, or not conforming to technical standards of the F.I.M. and F.F.M. will have to stop immediately and repair it.
Noise control : According to the F.I.M. standards limited to 102 decibels, any quad exceeding this limit will not be allowed to race. During the race any quad exceeding the standard will be stopped by the balck flag for repairing.
Article 7. Practice : Practice will start on Saturday at 10 AM to 12.00 AM
Practice must be raced with the race quad.
Article 8. Pre-grid : According to the results of the timed laps the riders will have to go into the closed park 45 minutes before the next start. Under the order of an officer, each quad will leave one-by-one from the park in the same order as the scatch ranking, so they will be parked at an angle to the pit in the order of the grid NEW 2002,.
Article 9. Start : First start : 3 PM. For each rounds, the positions on the starting line will be attributed according to the practice timed laps. The "circuit-breaker" must be rapped around the rider's wrist at the time of the start.
Mechanical help, refuelling or other assistance will not be permitted on the pre-grid and the starting line. Therefore, only the riders wearing a number as well as the Press, the Race Organization and Management will be authorized to go on the track and in the starting place. Mechanics and all other members of each team will have to stay behind the wall separating the track from the pits. The 2nd, 3rd start : 45 minutes before each start, the quad will be called on the starting line according to the ranking at the timed laps. Under the order of a race officer, the rider will exit the closed park with the engine turned on. All the starts will be given, style "LE MANS", that is the quad on the pit side and the rider on the other side of the track. At the signal of the race director, the riders will first run across the track towards their quads. They will first connect their "circuit-breaker" and then only start their engine. For each start, it is not allowed to push the quad in order to start. Only one minute after the start, and after the authorization of the race director, such a start will be permitted. This authorization will be indicated if agreed upon by a green flag. A mechanic may help the rider in pushing the quad.
Article 10. Refuelling : The competitors must only use standard commercial gas. Any special gas is not allowed. Refuelling must be completed with the engine turned off (see penalties). No more than 20 liters of gas can be stocked in the pit. Any installation such as a "derrick" is forbidden only quick refuelling is allowed (mobile appliance ex Acerbis etc...) .
Article 11. Switching of the rider : No rider will be permitted to race for more than 2 consecutive hours. Any switch of rider will be executed in front of the pit, on the side of the pit lane and engine off.
Article 12. Finishes : Finishes will be in front of the timing post and the chequered flag will be waved up the straight line of the pits. After the chequered flag, all the riders will have to slow down and keep their position. Overtakings are forbidden. At the end of the straight line of the pits, riders should move behind the "Pace Car" and will follow it to the closed park. Another vehicle will be placed just after the last competitor, in order to close the track. It is forbidden to stay all along the pits wall. Moreover it is forbidden for each member of the team to get over the pits wall. Only one rider per quad - wearing a number - could reach the closed park in order to leave the quad and take it back for the next heat. Neither mechanic helps nor refuelling are allowed between the finish of each heat and the starting of the following one (see penalties). The closed park will be watched over in between each heat. During this time, the quads which are in the pits for repair or other, will be placed in the closed park and an officer will advise to stop any repair (including bench repair), as soon as the leading team crosses the finish line. A race officer will follow one of the riders and his quad toward the closed park. Repairs will begin again just after the start of the following heat.
If a rider was wounded during the last lap and was unable to bring the quad back in the closed park, the two other riders would be allowed to drive the quad back to the closed park, with a race officer. If the quad was damaged, it couldn't leave the closed park before the starting of the following heat and will be stopped by a race officer at the entry of the pits. At the starting of the heat, the team will be allowed to go back to the pits.
Article 13. End of the race : As soon as the last heat is finished, the five first quads and three randomly selected ones will be placed in the closed park. After a control and a delay of 30 minutes after the finish, the quad may exit definitely the closed park.
Article 14. The pits : Pits will be attributed from Thursday 2 P.M. to 7 P.M. and on Friday 8 A.M. to 8 P.M.
Article 15. Fire extinguishers : Every team in the race must have a certified fire extinguisher of 9 Kgs. They will be controlled by a race officer in the pits.
Article 16. Assistance in the pits : Any damaged quad may be repaired by two mechanics and the riders. The people allowed to stay in the pits are the riders, the mechanics (maximum two), the team manager and the "panel man". Ten passes will be given to each team as well as two stickers. They will be sticked on the two vehicles authorized for each team to stay in the park (P1) near the pits. The other team vehicles will be parked in the first paddock before the pits. We remind you that passes and stickers are only reserved for the assistance. In case of fraud, the team will have to pay a forfait amounting 76.22 + a 2 laps penalty
Article 17. Flags : All the flags used during the race are the same normally used in any motorcycle race.
Article 18. Repairs : All parts may be replaced except the frame. Important repairs must be done in the pits. All repairs performed outside of the pits will be penalized, except the one written below. Fast and temporary repairs (spark-plugs, chain, etc) can be done on a safe part on the side of the track and under a marshall protection. The riders must do their own repairs, only tools and parts may be given to them by their assistance. In case of breakdown, the rider, plus the the two team-mates, may push the quad back to the pits going in the same direction as the race while following the track. They can use shortcuts in designed places under the responsability of a race officer. Welding will be performed in an area specially arranged for that particular purpose. No welding will be authorized in the pits.
Article 19. Ranking : The overall ranking will be established at the end of the race. The overall ranking established at the end of the last heat will be based on the total number of laps performed during each heat. The team completing the most laps will be declared winner of the "12 Heures de Pont-de-Vaux". In case of egality the ranking will be based on the total time taken to complete the four heats. In each heat if the rider passes the finish line 10 minutes after the winner of the heat, his last lap won't be take into account.
Article 20. Complaints : Complaints will be accepted in conformity with article 510 and following of the "Code Sportif". Complaints concerning the ranking will only be accepted within 30 minutes after the announcement of each heat ranking. To be taken in consideration, 60.98 must accompany each complaint. This amount is refundable if the complaint is justified. The complaint will be given to the race director . The complaints between riders are accepted within a delay of half an hour after the end of the race. If an engine had to be dismantled, it will be performed by the mechanic of the quad, and the claimer will be asked 45.73 for a two stroke engine, and 91.47 for a 4 stroke engine. If the complaint is not justified, the amount will be given to the incriminated team. The claimer, and the claimee must assist to all the verifications.
Article 21. Penalties : The penalties will be given by the jury according to the "Code Sportif".
Article 22. Advertisement : The following advertising spaces will be reserved for the organization (see diagram). Start will be automatically refused to any rider who doesn't wear the numbered jacket or if it doesn't match the original, official sponsors are not visible.
Article 23. Insurance : The organization will subscribe to an insurance policy. In case of accident, the "Association Motocycliste de Pont-de-Vaux" will take care of the transport in ambulance - from the track of the 12 Heures Pont-de-Vaux (01) to the hospital des Chanaux Mâcon (71) Caution : Concerning the day licence,a foreign rider citizen of a country which does not belong to the European Union will benefit from none of the guarantees inherent in the licence, even if he is owner of a licence issued by the FFM. However at the paperworks you could subscribe a complementary corporal guarantee. In the case you don't accept to subscribe it, we would ask you a written discharge of responsability. In
Article 24. : Any team participating in the race will respect the entire regulations and the decisions taken by the officials. Furthermore, if for any major reason, the race had to be cancelled, the organizing staff wouldn't be responsible toward the competitors and application fees wouldn't be reimbursed.

There will be a specific place for the "STOP AND GO". A timekeeper race officer will be in charge of the stop, timing and start under the responsability of the race director.
I - Indication of the infringement : Presentation of the black flag with the number of the quad on a stop sign during 3 laps.
II - If the quad doesn't stop after these 3 laps : Presentation of the black flag with an orange circle and the quad number on a stop sign. IMMEDIATE STOP AND DOUBLE PENALTY.
III - If the quad still doesn't stop : EXCLUSION OF THE HEAT. |
