The atmosphere of the 12 hours is much appreciated by the US riders
Bill Lanphier, journalist at ATV Sport US, published in May 2009 a story concerning the participation of KTM US and Can-Am US to the 12 Hours of Pont de Vaux 2008.
Bill notices that last year both teams have raced with quads which haven’t been tested before the Mondial du Quad (Can-Am on DS450, KTM on 525). It wasn’t easy to prepare the race of Pont de Vaux “rough and very fast” as the teams had to travel 5000 km to come at the arena of Bresse and to take various decisions regarding the preparation of their machines. But managers and riders were not discouraged by the organizational difficulties.
Racing for the KTM team, Tim Farr reached the 2nd place and remembers very well the “French connection”. He notes that the 12 Hours of PDV are a great event with many sponsors, many spectators, many manufacturers’ semitrailers... He particularly likes the town of Pont de Vaux during the race and finds that the event is very well represented. “Posters every where !” he says.
The Can-Am team is back this year, Ty Zimerman promises great achievements. He wants to arrive in Bresse with a better preparation than in 2008 with a change of engine for his quad. Josh Frederichs one of his official pilots, also notes that racing in Pont de Vaux is very fun as this race is a great one.
As for them, the organisers of the 12 Hours, are pleased to welcome among their riders champions such as Tim Farr or Josh Frederichs

The pitch is given
The press meeting which took place on May 5th on the boat “Ville de Pont de Vaux II” was an ideal time to lay the cards of both races in 2009.
Many partners, journalists and riders were with the Association Motocycliste de Pont de Vaux to discover the new trends of the season.
Two words to define our actions for 2009 : perpetuate (12 Hours Quad) and innovate (6 Hours Bike)

Track of Pont de Vaux :
The Layouts are going on
Thanks to the local authorities, the Association Motocycliste de Pont de Vaux has always in mind the development of the very huge sport ground which takes advantage of important assets thanks to the facilities progressively set up and its geographical situation.
Since 2 years now, the race of the 12 Hours is subjected of bad weather conditions (for a month of August)with as results many troubles in the paddocks and the access roads.
Further to a statisfaction enquiry made in 2008 with the teams, the different persons who participated to the event and the technical direction it appears that different points have to be improved as a priority.
At the beginning of March 2009, big works have begun to allow a better draining of the water in the paddocks and in the technical area newly made (cleaning and pipe putting in, new ditches for a better draining of the water by bad weather etc...)
The paddocks will be entirely redevelopped with the excavation works and the levelling of the surface as well as a widening of the access roads. Some of the jumps will be reworked for a better security of the race. The track for the SSV and ATC practices will be also lengthened within the next months.
So everything is made to allow the 12 Hours of Pont de Vaux take place even if the weather is not good

Julien Valentin : "I will come back at PDV to defend my podium !"
It's not the 1st time he takes part to the 12 Hours of Pont de Vaux. Julien Valentin, 20, is becoming one of the inevitable riders of the Mondial du Quad. In 2008, with his team J-F Richard and V. Raimondi, they reached the 3rd step. Here is his view of the race :
"For me, the 12 Hours of PDV are one of the greatest meetings of the year where you can fight against the best World riders. You have to be fast, robust and manage the sessions. It's a full race. Its strong point is the riders and their interest in this race. No mercy - it's very exciting !" When you know that Julien is riding since he was 14 and is racing since 17 you have to bow before this talentuous rider who now disturbs teams such as Couprie-Jay and Farr-Kiser-McGill !
Then for 2009, Julien feels confident and motivated despite he doens't know the other riders of his team and some adjustment due to the change of machine. He explains : My team for 2009 is still not made. Sure this time I will ride on a KTM 450 SX as in 2009 I will be the official rider KTM on this machine. Last year for the 1st participation, the quad finished at the 2nd place. With a one year more experience, we hope a nice result in 2009. I will be back at Pont de Vaux to defend my podium !

The 12 Hours are popular in the Eastern countries.
With 5 teams in 2005, Poland is one of the Eastern countries which is the best involved in the Mondial du Quad. A nice 17th place at the 2008 final ranking for the Polish team Brzozowski Quad Tuning gave the riders wings. They are now preparing themselves to the 23rd edition of the Mondial. Jacek Stelmaszyk, one of the 3 riders of this team, confirm the participation of the Brzozowski Quad Tuning : "We will come with our Walsh KTM. I feel it good ! I know it very well so I could give all my time to the race and I won't be obliged to test the machine which is necessary to take it in hand. In 2009, we hope to be in the top 5 ! That would be a very good result and the golden apotheosis of all our efforts."
Anyway we can find excellent stories of the 12 Hours of Pont de Vaux written by the Polish medias, such as the site www.scigacz.pl.
